This story was good but very dark and delved in to demons, voodoo, and the occult. Too much so for my taste. Although, if you read the synopsis it does indicate that's what the story is going to be about. The plot was good but the story is again darker, less forgiving and not what you would expect from this writer. Do not get this story if you want a whole lot of romance or good vibrations. It is a love story of sorts...as much love as a root working, voodoo priestess and a demon can have with each other. It's not a cute and cuddly romance if that's what you're looking for, and at times I did not like things the H/H did but it did keep in line with their evil persona's. If you don't mind the occult and things associated with it, you will love this story but it was too much for my individual taste.I am giving this story 3 stars because I was personally creeped out and disturbed by the subject matter. The plot and writing is a 4.

Tricia is a voodoo priestess, with a smart mouth and incredible powers. She has distanced herself from most people, she prefers it that way. She can't stand to be among fake, deceitful people. Her family falls under both. To protect herself she even put a spell on herself, it's supposed to guard her heart and mind. Will it hold against a certain very good looking demon.
Jaidon, a demon on Hell's council, came to Tricia's doorstep with a proposition. A position in hell, it `s a tempting offer, agreeing to it would boost her powers immensely. But Tricia knows that everything comes with a price. So convincing her won't be easy, Jaidon will have to work hard for this deal.
"But rest assured, little witch, I will have you under me sooner rather than later."
But the demon better watch out, he might find himself enjoying her too much.
For the Spring Cleaning (mini) Challenge, where you'll have to read three books that you've owned for at least a year, have I decided to read this book. I had picked up a copy of this a long time ago. Demons, witches, magic it all appealed to me, I found it very interesting but wasn't too fond of the cover so I kept pushing it back. Then my attention strayed to other books more often and I never got back to this one. But no more prolonging.
After reading it I think it's a nice, short smutty read. The paranormal pull that appealed to me then still appealed to me now. I liked the concept of the story and the characters. Would have liked a little more debt concerning Tricia's family but they don't sound like much fun anyway, so I'll let that rest.
A thing that did struck me as peculier was Jaidon's naivety, to think he could trust any of his fellow demons was very dangerous. Deception and betrayal are what makes demons thrive. Why would he be exempted from their tricks.
I know that Tricia distanced herself from her family, especially her parents. But a part of me wanted to read Tricia getting a bit more justice on that front. Like having their secrets and true nature exposed, mainly her father's. It didn't have to be leaked to the mass but within the family would do the trick too. But overall it was a good read...did I mention it contained a lot of smut.

A very good read from beginning to end a constant page turner. This was a book unlike any other that I have read a heroine who was neither good no bad she lived by her own rules. And a unlikely hero in her demon lover very good read with so much drama, past hurts, black magic and dare I say it seduction! I love Ms Roses work and was not disappointed with this story.
